IPFRA takes on key role supporting delivery of FloodReady action plan
The International Property Flood Resilience Association (IPFRA) has formally assumed a key role in supporting the delivery and ongoing implementation of the recommendations set out in the Government-backed FloodReady review, helping to ensure momentum is maintained behind one of the most significant flood resilience initiatives in recent years.
Published in 2025 following an independent review led by Professor Peter Bonfield, ‘FloodReady: An Action Plan to Build the Resilience of People and Properties’ sets out a ten-year roadmap for improving the flood resilience of homes, businesses and communities across England.
The review identified six strategic themes and 22 recommendations designed to increase the knowledge and uptake of Property Flood Resilience (PFR), strengthen consumer confidence and support the development of a trusted, sustainable market.
As part of the next phase of work, IPFRA will provide secretariat support to the ongoing FloodReady programme, helping to coordinate industry engagement, monitor progress against the recommendations, facilitate collaboration between stakeholders and ensure that the actions identified within the review continue to move forward.
Graham Brogden MBE, Chair of IPFRA, said: “FloodReady provides a real opportunity to fundamentally change how we think about flood resilience in the built environment. The review has brought together government, insurers, lenders, manufacturers, construction professionals, local authorities, researchers and flood resilience specialists behind a shared vision. The challenge now is ensuring that the recommendations translate into meaningful action.”

FloodReady was commissioned by the Environment Agency and Defra and builds on the progress achieved since the original 2016 Property Flood Resilience Action Plan.
IPFRA was established to represent surveyors, installers, consultants, manufacturers and the wider supply chain involved in Property Flood Resilience. The trade body works collaboratively with government, insurers, researchers and other stakeholders to support the mainstream adoption of high-quality PFR measures and improve outcomes for people and properties at risk of flooding.
